(抓住对方)按右键锁定目标，按住右键不放再按下鼠标左键并按住
(抓住对方时的攻击)抓住了对方时，向前拖动鼠标(打腹部)/按键盘的Q(左拳)，E(右拳)键/蓄力攻击方法同上/按住方向键(w,s,a,d)可以把对手往不同的方向拖动以及往墙上石头上撞击或者把对方推下屋顶推进火炉等等(具体都有提示，按提示做)/往左或者往右拖动鼠标可以挥动对手，这时候突然松开鼠标的话，对手会因为惯性被丢出去。
(敌人被打跪下了时)，向前拖动鼠标(用头撞击)/按键盘Q,E,W
射击：

按住鼠标右键不放，此时拖动鼠标可以进行微调，按左键射击，射击不同部位有不同的效果
比如射击肩膀可以让对手解除武器，射击膝盖可以让对手停止前进，射击头部一击致命
射击时对着墙壁按capslock键可以以墙做掩体，按住右键不放，按左键射击。
(车辆虽然不能直接用caps做掩体，但按下c键潜行以后还是可以起到掩体的作用)

在近身格斗或者射击时有时会提示按v键进行处决(execute)，此时按v键可以看到主角把敌人的脖子扭断或者一枪暴头的一击必杀效果

不同的杀人方式你获得的respect值也会不同，从背后悄悄的勒死对方(选择武器garrote绞具，潜行到对手身后，按住鼠标右键，再按住鼠标左键抓住对手，按住x键用garrote勒住对方，直至他噎气为止)赢得的respect比从远处射杀赢得的respect要多的多。

有的店主很好说话，你只需要上去跟他们协商一下，他们就会同意你的要求，但大多数的店主都不吃这套，这时我们需要动用一些强硬的手段。在他们的健康条下是一个压力条，压力条上我们可以看到有一跟绿色的竖线，当他们的压力累积超过了绿色的竖线后，他们就会向你妥协。你可以通过威吓(比如揪住他或者用枪对着他)或者用暴力的方式(殴他或者砸毁他的财物)来让他感觉到压力。超过绿色竖条越多，你敲诈到的钱也就越多。但要注意不要做的太过了，要是他的压力条由绿色变成了红色的话，他不但不会给你保护费，还会不顾死活的用拳头向你反抗。
注意的是不同的店主有不同的弱点(有的怕被揪住，象最开始的那个肉点老板弱点是怕你砸他店里的东西)，抓住他的弱点进行威吓能取得额外的bonus(额外增加你敲诈所得到的保护费)。
威吓成功后按空格键进行勒索。

注意到右上方的那个vendetta(仇杀)条了吗，你杀死敌对家族的人或者搅乱了他们的生意都会使这个条增加数值，当上升到一定程度后就会爆发全面的家族战争。这时柯里昂家族的所有地盘和家族成员都会成为他们袭击的目标。这时你有两种选择，你可以选择去贿赂FBI的联邦调查员(大地图上的黄帽子)或者你可以通过去炸掉对方家族的据点来让仇杀值下降。
